Baggage tags are also called as baggage checks that are used by bus, train and airline services to check and protect the passenger’s luggage. During any kind of travel luggage is the fundamental requirement.
They vary from just clothes, food stuffs, books to important documents and other files. All these need to be protected till the destination is reached. Sometimes there may be a mistake of two people having similar bags, that time in a bulk cargo differentiating the bags is difficult. To differentiate, baggage tags are very essential.
Initially reinforced paper tags, separable coupon tags were used. Later many electronic devices came into existence. One such type of tag is the bar code. This consists of barcode prints attached to an adhesive paper. They are then attached to the bags as tags. Some airlines use radio-frequency identification (RFID) chips to tag bags.
Baggage tags are essential to control the misroute, delay or misplacing of the luggage. The reliability of these is good and so at the end of the day there is less confusion at the conveyer belt in the luggage reclaim hall. It is also used to check and identify the luggage when it is not delivered at the given destination. Baggage tags are ultimately useful to identify one among similar bags, as a proof that the passenger is taking his own bag out and not somebody else’s and also to overcome any mishap of losing the bag.
