Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust… Not a single reason to buy it

It’s tough to imagine what kind of players Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust would attract. He talks in some of the most innuendo laden and foul language you can have in a video game. He makes passes at every woman in sight in hopes of taking them back to his squalid trailer. There is hardly anything resembling a game and the dialogues are a very bad attempt at vulgar humour.

The game redefines slow death for the brain as you play Larry Lovage who has been asked to come find a saboteur at his uncle’s studio. Larry arrives, insulting everybody and anybody, never once being racist or sexist. The game severely lacks in the fun and imagination department and mostly takes us around a Hannah-Barbara inspired movie lot. Larry can virtually skip, jump, and golf-cart over most of the set but controls leave a lot to be desired. The fighting with local goons is simply put, awkward. Having an amazing repertoire of moves, most of them end up backfiring because of unresponsive controls. Playing on the PC gets worse since you have to memorize a number of commands. The mini-games are scarce and range from the mildly interesting to the downright disgusting. One involves having to pick up women from the lot while spouting atrocious dialogues.

The graphics are mediocre, the missions inspiring and the chance of repeating the obscenities in front of your loved ones. Offered at a discount price, it is still an absolute waste of money.
